Wii Newz... The wait is over. The WiiKey Fusion modchip is now available, and we've got 'em. As all of you who've picked up a new Wii since January know, the latest rendition of the Wii motherboard was unmoddable. Well, that's no longer the case. The Fusion modchip is the first and so far only chip in existence that can be used on all Wii's ever made, including this newest version. Supplied and installed for $125. And as with all products created by the WiiKey team, rock solid performance plus the ability to play games backed up to an SD card. Booyah!

Update: Dec 28, 2009

360 Newz... Finally. C4eva, the master coder responsible for the custom code in all current 360 dvd-drive hacks, has released the new code for ALL Lite-On versions. This new code will play all Wave 4 and 5 games... that means everything. So, if you have been waiting patiently to play COD6, FIFA10, Assassin's Creed 2, etc, etc, the wait is over. The usual $25 fee applies, so drop your console off, and let's get you updated!

Update: Dec 10, 2009

Wii Newz... the update is now available for all WiiKey2 owners to play New Super Mario Bros (NSMB). Download this file ONLY if you are certain you have a WiiKey2 modchip (it will only work with a WiiKey2 regardless). We expect D2Pro and DriveKey updates to follow shortly. Download the file here. Extract the file using WinRAR, burn to DVD, throw into your Wii, and follow the prompts.

DriveKey has already made their latest batch of chips available with the fix in place to play NSMB, so we now have them in stock and are installing them.

Update: Dec 10, 2009

360 Newz... if you have a Lite-On drive in your console and you've been patiently waiting for a firmware update to play the latest Wave4 games... well, the wait continues. Actually, the plot thickened today when the team responsible for releasing the code announced that the solution may require a hardware component. This would be the first time a modchip has had to enter the picture in 360 hacking. More to follow when available. And sorry, no ETA provided as of yet.

Update: Dec 2, 2009

Wii Newz... just in time for Christmas, the latest batch of Wii's showing up in stores has had a major change to the drive's motherboard, rendering all current modchips useless. This version is referred to as D3-2 (it has also been referred to in some forums as D3-Nothing, as "nothing" currently works on it). All modchip teams are working on solutions, so it's just a matter of time. At this point, we can't say if a solution will be available by christmas, but just keep checking back. You'll know the minute we do.

Update: Nov 29, 2009

Wii Newz... Nintendo has done it again with their latest release: New Super Mario Bros Wii. It runs a modchip detection algorithm that can detect all current "wired" modchips. The modchip manufacturers are reportedly working on updates to their chips, but from what I read in the forums, there have been difficulties, and some makers have already thrown in the hat and said there won't be an update for their chip. As an aside, some of the "wireless" chips that have recently appeared on the scene do not seem to be affected by the anti-modchip protection. Back with more on that shortly. We'll offer it as a download as soon as we have it. It's that easy (which is why we love the WiiKey2). Back soon with a link.

Update: Nov 10, 2009

Big ban wave the last few days. Thousands of LIVE users have found their consoles banned from LIVE. Let me remind you all, it is entirely Microsofts perogative to ban any console that they determine has been modded. And there is no recourse... they hold all the cards. At present, there is no way around the ban. MS can ban the machine's unique ID, so that it will never be able to access LIVE again. Fortunately, user accounts are not banned, and can be migrated to another machine at will. If you are unfortunate enough to experience a ban, we empathize... both our systems were also banned.

As for the cause of the bans, the jury is still out. The most common cause is either playing new titles before they've been officially released in a given area (ie, we were playing a copy of COD:MW2 two weeks before it was released in North America, and apparently MS can determine your locale from your public IP address), or playing copies online that have not been properly stealth patched. If those two elements were not involved in your equation, then we're as confused as you are. Hopefully more info will follow.

Update: Nov 2, 2009

Ah, Microsoft... at it again. This time they've changed the coding on their latest games to what's now referred to as Wave 4. This will again require an update to your firmware. The required firmware is available for both the Samsung and BenQ drives at this point, and is known as version 1.6.1. Lite-On and Hitachi soon to follow (no ETA as of today). As usual, $75 for an initial flash, and $25 for any repeat visits.

Update: July 2, 2009

WiiKey2 price change. The price for the Wiikey2 modchip... supplied and installed... is now an even $100 (previously $125)

Update: June 1, 2009

XBOX360 news - New iXtreme firmware version 1.6 available. The team has already optimized the 1.5.1 code, and released 1.6 to handle all new Wave 3 games. FYI, 1.6 is available for the Lite-On, BenQ and Samsung drives. There is no release yet for the Hitachi drives, though 1.5.1 continues to do the job nicely for those drives. If we flashed your console in the past, the fee to do it all over again is still $25 (not the full $70).

Update: Apr 7, 2009

XBOX360 news - New iXtreme firmware version 1.5.1 available. Microsoft has changed the format of their latest games. At this point, both MLB 2K9 and Tom Clancy's HAWK are unplayable with any hacked firmware, and all new releases are expected to run this format. The firmware was released in record time, and we can confirm after doing a couple that it's flawless, and plays both games without issue.
Per our re-flash policy, if we flashed your console in the past, the fee to do it all over again is $25 (not the full $70).

Update: Jan 9, 2009

WII NEWS! We have decided to offer the WiiKey2 as our Nintendo Wii modchip-of-choice. The WiiKey2 offers a couple features that we consider invaluable. First and foremost, it is disc upgradable. No more having to open the console everytime we need to update the firmware. Add to that region-free and dual-layer ready. One other standout feature is the options availabe via the config disc on the Wiikey.cn website, which allows control of disc read speed, recovery mode, etc. Supplied, installed, and warranted for $125. More info on the Wii page.

Update: Jan 1, 2009

XBOX 360 NEWS! Barely three months after Microsoft launched their "unmodabble" Lite-On drive, the geniuses in the scene have it figured out. We can now flash the Lite-On drives, just like any other drive. So, no need to swap in a replacement drive... and the price for the Lite-On is the usual $75. So if you've been holding off on getting your new 360 done, don't bother waiting. More info on the 360 page, and in the 360 FAQ.

Update: Nov 12, 2008

XBOX LIVE BANS! MS is at it again. They've figured out how to detect the latest stealth firmware, and over the weekend have begun banning LIVE users with modified consoles. According to the 360 forums, users have been banned using ORIGINALS, not copies, so that's not even guaranteed to be safe. It may be wise to temporarily avoid LIVE until we can figure out how MS is catching modified systems. The best possible advice is to have a virgin console for LIVE use and a second for backups. Unfortunately, MS gets to make the rules, and they get to enforce them with impunity. If you get banned, I empathize... so did I.

Update: Jan 11, 2008

360 News... 2 parts: 1) Price drop to have your console flashed... now $75 / console.

2) Introducing the Hitachi Pass Key modchip. Yes, the Hitachi v79 is now flashable!! While all other versions of the DVD-Drive can be flashed by software only, the v79 requires a modchip installation to allow flashing. So if you have/get the Hitachi, using backup copies is now possible. Check the 360 page for info.
